Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
This page explains what information Barwis Consulting, LLC ("we" or "us") collects when you visit barwisconsulting.com, email us, or book a call. It also explains what we do with that information and what you can ask us to do with it.
If you hire us, the contract for that work covers the information we handle for you as a client.
Who we are
Barwis Consulting, LLC is based in Holland, Michigan, USA. We are responsible for the personal information described here. For any privacy question or request, email info@barwisconsulting.com.
The short version
- The website has no forms, no user accounts, and no advertising.
- We do not use cookies to track you, and we do not track you across other websites.
- We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- If you email us or book a call, we use what you send only to talk with you about your needs.
What we collect and why
When you visit the website
Like every website, our site receives technical information from your browser when you load a page. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the page you asked for, and the page that sent you to us. Our hosting provider uses this information to deliver the site and protect it from abuse and attacks. Our hosting provider is currently Vercel, Inc. We plan to move the site to Cloudflare, Inc., and after that move Cloudflare will be our hosting provider.
We use the privacy-focused website analytics that our hosting provider offers (Vercel Web Analytics now, and Cloudflare Web Analytics after the move). It tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, which websites sent them, and their general country, browser, and device type. It does not use cookies, it does not store your IP address, and it does not follow you to other websites. We see only totals, not individual visitors.
After the move, Cloudflare may place a small number of security cookies in your browser to tell real visitors apart from automated bots. These cookies are needed to protect the site and are not used for analytics or advertising.
The site loads its font (Montserrat) from Google Fonts. When your browser downloads the font, Google receives your IP address and browser information. Google describes how it handles this data in its Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
When you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and anything you write. We use this to reply to you and, if you become a client, to do the work you ask for. Our email service provider stores these messages for us.
When you schedule a call
The "schedule a call" links on our site take you to a booking page run by Reclaim.ai. When you book, Reclaim collects your name, email address, the time you choose, and anything you type in the booking form. Reclaim adds the call to our calendar and creates a Microsoft Teams meeting, so Microsoft also processes your name, email address, and the meeting details. During the call, Microsoft Teams processes your audio and video to run the call. Reclaim's and Microsoft's own privacy policies apply to the information they collect:
We use your booking details only to hold the call and follow up with you afterward.
Why we're allowed to use your information (Europe and the UK)
European and UK privacy law (the GDPR) says we need a legal reason to use your information. Ours are:
- To run the website, keep it secure, and reply when you contact us. The law calls this a "legitimate interest."
- To talk with you about working together, when you book a call or ask about our services.
- To do the work you hire us for, if you become a client.
- To keep tax and business records that the law requires.
Who else sees your information
Only the companies named on this page: our hosting provider (Vercel or Cloudflare), Google Fonts, our email provider, Reclaim.ai, and Microsoft. They handle it only to provide their services to us. We would also hand over information if the law required it, and if the business were ever sold, the buyer would take over these records.
We don't sell your information, and we don't give it to anyone for advertising. (California and other US state privacy laws call these "selling" and "sharing.")
If you're outside the United States
We're in the US, and so are most of the services we use. If you're in another country, your information goes to the US. The companies we use follow the legal rules for moving information out of Europe, the UK, and Canada, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or contract terms approved by the European Commission.
How long we keep information
- Website analytics: kept only as totals, with no information that identifies you.
- Hosting and security logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period under its own retention settings.
- Emails and booking details: kept for as long as we need them to talk with you. If you become a client, we keep them for the length of the work and as long as tax and business record laws require.
You can ask us to delete your emails and booking details at any time. See "Your rights" below.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy
- correct information that is wrong
- delete your information
- stop or limit how we use your information
- send your information to you or to another company in a common format
Privacy laws in Europe, the UK, Canada (including PIPEDA and Quebec's privacy law), and several US states give some people these rights. We give them to everyone, wherever you live and whether or not a law requires it. Asking costs nothing and won't change how we treat you.
To ask, email info@barwisconsulting.com. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we'll answer within 30 days. If you don't agree with our answer, reply and tell us, and we'll look at it again.
You can also complain to a privacy regulator: your national data protection authority in the EU, the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information). We'd appreciate the chance to fix the problem first.
"Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers can send a signal asking websites not to track you or sell your information. We don't do either, so there's nothing for the signal to switch off. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we'll still treat it as a request not to sell or share your information.
Children
Our website and services are for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you think a child has sent us information, tell us and we'll delete it.
Security
The website is encrypted (HTTPS). The accounts that hold your information are protected with strong passwords and multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
